The animal was first sighted at noon by fishers, and by evening, it had washed ashore, reportedly dead. The carcass was fresh when examined, visible external damage included a portion of the fluke missing, and damage to the lower jaw (other than bruises, peeling skin, and discharge from genital orifices).
