Details
The animal was stranded on Saturday 21st October 2017 but was reported on 23rd October 2017. The individual was stranded in two parts. Posterior portion washed ashore near the Afghan church shore and the anterior (head) region was found near the Colaba pumping station. The tail region was inaccessible (approx. length estimate was 5 m.) The head region was measured at 7.8 m. The total ventral pleat count was 43-44. Bryde's whales match this pleat count.
The carcass was in advanced stages of decomposition and the jaw bones and certain vertebrae were exposed.
